MWD Shop Technician

Job Description:

  • String test all outgoing tool strings
  • Setting up all required MWD hardware 
  • Receive all incoming tools, Kit Boxes and inventory from the field
  • Ensure all UBHO Subs are inspected and field read
  • Under limited supervision, service and maintain tools and equipment after each job
  • Ensure all serviced equipment is loaded in the MWD kit for dispatch
  • Communicate with the Senior Technicians to ensure all MWD requirements are met
  • Maintain Technical shop cleanliness
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork
  • Ensure project activities comply with HSE safety standards
  • Work with the MWD Coordinator to meet equipment deadlines
  • Maintain sustainable client and supplier relationships by conducting work habits in a professional manner
  • Follow and comply with all Crescent’s Safety programs
  • Assist with MWD Incident troubleshooting

Directional Drilling Coordinator

Location:

Midland, Texas

General Purpose:

The Directional Drilling Coordinator supervises the directional drilling field operations for Crescent Directional.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Supervises daily directional drilling field operations 
  • Makes recommendations for Well profiles/BHA design/Operating procedures
  • Orders and manages equipment and personnel for customer projects
  • Supports field personnel with recommendations for directional drilling operations
  • Is the primary contact with customers with regards to Directional/MWD  operations
  • Manages the hiring of prospective field personnel
  • Makes sure field reporting and revenue are captured correctly 
  • Provides technical support for Sales
  • Promotes drilling optimization for perspective and customers
  • Stays up to date on current and future technologies with directional drilling and MWD equipment 
  • Provides technical support for troubleshooting field operations
  • May conduct various aspects of performance management such as performance appraisal or counseling of employees
  • Understands and promotes Crescent’s culture, quality and safety objectives

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma required 
  • Minimum of 5 years directional drilling experience and good communication skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of MWD and Directional Drilling equipment required. 
  • Negotiating skills, business financial training, management training  a plus
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Advanced computer skills which would include standard office platforms Excel/Word/Powerpoint

MWD Manager

Location:

Houston, Texas

General Purpose:

The MWD Manager handles all aspects of the operations for MWD. This position also works directly with customers and MWD Coordinators to custom design MWD configurations to fit the Operator’s drilling needs. Works with vendors to discuss new technology and advancements to current equipment.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assign field engineers to rigs, and manage relief during vacations, emergencies, and personnel conflicts.
  • Work with customers, and vendors to accommodate needed MWD requirements (programming, configurations, tool types, etc.)
  • Give operational support to the MWD coordinator during MWD tool failures.
  • Coordinate all logistics to and from the field, and work with the directional staff to share trucks to reduce total job cost.
  • Project upcoming activity, and ensure we have field engineers to cover the work.
  • Work with operations staff and customers to relay MWD failure information, and action plans to prevent future MWD events.
  • Review field reports to ensure field engineers are charging accurate hours, and monitor daily activity.
  • Review expense reports, and make sure field engineers are charging appropriate mileage, and other expenses have been approved.
  • QC survey data and logs as they come from the field.
  • Work with directional staff to accomplish best BHA configurations regarding magnetic spacing, and projected azimuth errors.
  • Communicate with the shop manager any and all changes to kit inventory needs, and discuss updates when tools will be needed on location.
  • Review and approve all purchase orders regarding MWD equipment rentals, purchases, and trucking.
  • Write new (or change existing) MWD policies and procedures for the field staff.
  • Discuss any magnetic spacing/qualifier issues with command center to ensure accurate, well placement.
  • Interview potential candidates, and determine if they meet the qualifications to be employed.
  • Assist other districts during MWD events, adding new policies, and advise on disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Offer 24/7 operational support to every rig in every district.

Experience/Education:

  • Seven years MWD experience (5 years in management).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Any post-secondary education with a focus on petroleum, technology or engineering is an asset
  • Safeland certificate

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience at a supervisory level role in related service environment and experience in related service sector position(s) in or directly associated with field operations.
  • Strong understanding of MWD/LWD principles.
  • Knowledge of all major MWD software suites including Benchtree, Digidrill, RigWatch, Polaris, SAI, Oasis, and TRUVIEW.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Strive to offer prompt and result driven results to our customers
  • 24/7 On-call schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to forecast multiple schedules to meet deadlines and arrange technical/physical logistics.
  • Must possess a determined, thorough, and detail-oriented work ethic.

Well Planner

General Purpose:

The Well Planner generates a planned drilling trajectory based upon customer requirements and preferences, supplied geologic data, target locations, and area specific standard drilling practices and parameters.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Coordinates with Drilling Engineers and Geologists for necessary planning information and requirements
  • Reviews and verifies accuracy of all provided Geologic Data for errors and/or omissions
  • Reviews and verifies accuracy of all provided Survey Plat Data for errors and/or omissions
  • Consults with the Directional Coordinators for plan profile, feasibility, and tool limitations.
  • Verifies Offest Well location relative to the jobsite and inputs existing surveys data if available or provided.
  • Considers potential for collision with existing Wellbores and generates plan based upon client requirement for collision avoidance.
  • Verifies any Legal restrictions existing that might influence plan design.
  • Verifies Magnetic data and applies proper correction factor to the Plan Data.
  • Creates and distributes Planning Documentation for the client and the field personnel in required or necessary formats.
  • 24 hour a day Directional Drilling support.
  • Generates new plans based upon revised Geologic Targets and issues new planning data to all relevant Parties. 
  • Coordinates with I.T. department to troubleshoot and maintain all necessary Well Planning software.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma required 
  • Minimum of 2 years of Well Planning experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working Knowledge of Landmark Compass Well Planning Software 
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office software Products

  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work remotely 24/7 or coordinates with other Well Planners to meet client needs if unavailable.

MWD Solder Technician

General Purpose:

To Assemble/Disassemble all connectors for an MWD system while following proper QC protocol

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Rewire interconnects
  • Build pigtails for Gammas, Batteries, and Electronics
  • Rewire Directional Interface Modules
  • QC any equipment incoming/outgoing the solder room
  • Keep inventory stocked on a daily basis
  • Follow any maintenance protocols

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of MWD experience

Directional Driller

The Directional Driller is involved in the planning, execution and management of all phases of any directional drilling job to assist in delivering services that meet or exceed client expectation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervise directional drilling operations on the rig site;
  • Responsible for rig reporting procedures
  • Generate concise reports on a Daily/weekly basis;
  • Assist and advise directional drilling trainees
  • Excellent communication, organization, troubleshooting and teamwork skills
  • Must be available to be on-call 24x7 and will be required to work away from home location for long periods of time.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Driller or Assistant Driller experience and/or MWD experience;
  • Thorough knowledge of Drilling Systems products and services;
  • Excellent communication, organization, troubleshooting and teamwork skills. Positive attitude and a high degree of self-discipline and motivation;
  • 2- or 3-year associate degree from technical college, or bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science preferred

MWD (Measurement While Drilling) Engineer

Job Description:

  • Represent the company as an effective communicator to both our offices and our clients regarding MWD activities
  • Setting up and operating MWD tools and surface equipment (including depth-tracking equipment for logging) in a safe, accurate and timely manner
  • Rig-site troubleshooting of all MWD equipment
  • Remaining on call 24/7 for callout jobs and field support

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years MWD experience
  • Strong willingness to learn new technologies
  • Above average computer skills
  • Engineering, Science, Geology or other technical degree preferred
  • Willingness to work in remote locations for extended periods of time
  • Reliable transportation to travel long distances
